My Kid + Duplos = Like Paxil, Only More Addictive

So writing this post is like one of those moments where I seriously wish I'd made this blog anonymous. There are so many things I'd love to get off my chest right now (while screaming and crying and punching walls) and unfortunately I'm just not comfortable sharing everything on here because too many people I know (in real life) read this blog and I don't want to deal with it. Sorry to be so vague and emo, but there it is. Suffice to say I've been dealing with some disheartening stuff the past week which is why I haven't posted in a while.

You know what, though --> there's something absolutely surreal about being sad/depressed and being a mom at the same time. Because if I'm with Otto, just chilling or doing crafts or whatever normal mom stuff I have to be doing (because you can't stop being a good mom just because you find yourself in a bad mood) those moments with him elevate me out of my funk. Otto = the trump card.

And then we hit the Duplo Motherload...

Many of you know about my Nothing New resolution for 2011. So far I've been 100% on track and haven't spent any money on anything new for our household all year (yay, 3 weeks in and going strong). Well, we found out that this very cool Montessori family in town was moving to an island in the South Pacific (seriously, how amazing is that?) and selling almost all of their, well, everything. I went to this sale expecting to find a 2nd hand wooden abacus (I did!) and that kind of thing, but I didn't expect to hit the Duplo Motherload (but I did!)... So I'd love to share the "Otto/Lego therapy" that has been such a joy to Ot (kid's a Legomaniac) and therefore helped put a smile on my gloomy mug this week...

In this scene a convict has taken Grandpa hostage in the teepee on the hill, but the wolf and dalmation puppy tracked them down and cornered them until the Chief, his son Bear Rider, and Buzz Lightyear arrived to help.
Something cool: Otto insists that all of his Duplo people have bathtubs and toilets, no matter what. Usually I'm kinda lazy about building the plumbing but the other day I put together this pretty amazing toilet (yes, I'm proud of this)...

How much do I love this kid? There are no words. You know what I mean? If you're a parent I totally know you do.

xoxo guys,
Lindsey

Don't know what is going on babe, but hope you're okay and that the Duplo/Paxil/Otto mix is getting you through.

I was wondering where you've been. Sorry to hear the time away has been spent dealing with stuff. (I feel you on the lack of anonymity.)

But I am glad you were able to find some happiness in Duplo city with Otto.

*hugs*

Thank you guy so much. It's been a pretty bad week but we are hanging in there and thanks to Otto and Rob I get to love, laugh, and smile while dealing with anything so I feel pretty fortunate <3

This is very sweet. Otto has such a great attention span. Milo is not yet able to make Lego worlds of wonder. Or are there two Legomaniacs in the family? ;-)

I'm not a mom...Never even been pregnany...but I come from a very large family and was the oldest of my mom's kids, so...I totally know what you mean! :-) I'm glad he's providing you a 'bright spot'. Sounds like you need one right about now. Been there/Done that. "YAY Otto!!!" :-)

I hear you on the desire to dump - because the blog is supposed to be cathartic right? but needing to keep those all important things to ourselves. My MIL and FIL read my blog religiously - more than anyone else - so the last thing I can do is vent about how they're not available when we NEED them, etc. I know too how you feel about Otto brightening your day. If we lived next door, I'd be right over with more toys and a big mug 'o' "fortifications"...

i understand the vagueness... it sucks sometimes having too many people you know actually read your blog...
if there is ever a time you need to vent, you are more than welcome to hop on over to my blog and do a post annonomysly. :-) if you are interested just let me know!

Lily's such a duplos fan, too. And of course we have random farm animals present in our sets, too.

Lily's my trump-card, too. Your ending line just made me tear up and I'm sitting in my office at work. Damned PMS or something.

Smile mama - we love you!

You all are so amazing - how I wish I lived next door to each of you!

@Jennifer, there may be 2 or 3 Legomaniacs in the house :)

@Lauren I would soooo take you up on the "fortifications"!

I love you Linz and have been thinking about you daily. I'm glad to see you blogging again. I've missed your wonderful Otto stories and pictures. Can't wait to get my arms around him this weekend.
Guess I we will have to make a trip to Target on Friday and get some Duplos.

I love this. I'd be proud of the toilet too! I couldn't ever build anything but a pyramid or a wall.

OT and ET said...

@Kate I couldn't ever tell you how much having you as my friend and neighbor means, but you seriously need to bring beer over more often... and cake batter.

@Nita Otto's already excited for this weekend and I am looking forward to the break in a major way. I think getting a little physical distance will be important. xo

@Kim oh you could totally build a rockin toilet - I have faith in you! I'm a wall-builder too, especially with the normal sized legos... I make huge solid "Borgs" it's so therapeutic.

Coaching is all typically the rage today. Most of us don't have professionals in our agencies anymore, we certainly have instructors. Should you be ready associated with leading or creating other people inside your lending broker, ケイトスペード 財布,developing mentoring skills is usually your personal greatest materials.

The technique of instruction has emerge from the sports area. We type of use a view regarding coaching as a general care-free process wherever everyone really should be having loads of fun, although it's not always predicament.www.oakleyautoretto.com, As i do training workshops I am going to often start off them by questioning the questions from their sports activities, "What makes a great mentor? inches "What makes a bad trainer? " As people list up from the attributes it becomes really apparent that why is real truth motor coach buses in the sports arena holds true within the workplace.

Fine coaches provide for skill as well as team development and they also receive schooling to help these organizations using this. Why should our objectives and support associated with coaches in the office be any different? But coaching on the job can easily, will not, neglect.
