lazeballs post - spring in the eug

confession: i have had wine tonight.

it's pretty major. wine! check it out.

one glass of post-pregnancy wine pretty much equals 3 jager shots and a joint for a normal person. just sayin. #iamsuperbuzzed :) #practicallykaraoketime

anyways, where was i? ummm? spring has sprung here in the eug and i took some unbelievably rad pics of my little toehead munch that i wanted to share. i still don't know what i'm going to do about editing pictures now that picnik barf-ploded so these are just thrown down, unedited eye candy. luckily, his cuteness really doesn't need editing. my little love -->

let me know when you've recovered from the cuteness.

so what do you think of his pants/shoes? we're getting real (real!) family pictures this weekend and i was thinking of these pants/shoes for the occasion. whadya think? my friend/coworker andy drake (here's his other site) is going to take the pics and i'm so excited because he's freaking awesome. and real (real!) family pics with loretta in the mix just feels like a big big deal (because it is, yo). right now our house is like a shrine to Otto (as it should be) and i'm excited to turn it into a shrine to Otto and Loretta. siblings! hooray for kids.

can't wait to share those pics on here and to create a new blog button with "Ot and Et". hope you're all having great weeks. xoxo

just insta-tidbits

shhhh, don't tell rob, but instagram is totally my boyfriend.

this week in the Muth household was just nuts. i'm slowly getting used to being back at work and our new schedule. i wake up every day at 5, drop Loretta off at her babysitter at 7, work til 4, pick her up, home for dinner and kid time, Otto goes to bed at 7, i pass out around 9, rinse, repeat. that shit cray.

but! i have pretty pics of all the fun, lovey, awesome stuff that managed to make its way into the cray. instagram and i are SO getting matching tattoos...

in short: i enjoyed the crap out of my kids as much as i could. i got a haircut! Otto loves Etta. i need to clean my house like stat. and it's finally, FINALLY getting a little sun shiny here in gloomy ole Eugene. big plans to spend as much time as possible outside this weekend.

hey, if you wanna find me on instagram i'm "otandet" let's cute-photo-stalk each other :)

so i'm intimidated by this new schedule of ours. it's honestly too much. it's exhausting. but it's also manageable (i guess, i hope) and temporary. rob will be out of school for the summer in June and then we can reconfigure. in the mean time, i just wanna soak in Loretta's new babyhood and Otto's three-and-a-quarter-hood as much as possible in the hours that i have with them. time is so so precious.

biscotti with dark chocolate and blueberries

with my maternity leave quickly coming to an end (sniff, sniff, i go back to work monday) i have to admit that i haven't been up to a lot of projects, no great crafts, nothing major cooked, done, or made. i've just been spending as much time as possible with this baby and loving every second of it. that said, Otto and i have done some baking, one of our favorite things to do together.

we recently made this super easy (a favorite!) biscotti recipe except using organic turbinado sugar, throwing in a tablespoon of ground flaxseed for fun, and adding in organic dark chocolate chips and dried blueberries. as you can see from the pics, the end result was a bit more crumbly than traditional biscotti. but omg they were so good!

i love this recipe because it's so easy, Otto can help me measure and mix the ingredients, and as far as cookies go it's pretty much on the healthy side. let me know if you try it i'd love to see if you've become a biscotti superfan like we are around here!

easter weekend

i ate something like a dozen devilled eggs today. feeling so disgusting and awesome.

our little easter weekend was pretty sweet. no big deals. an egg hunt in the park. lots of time spent outside. a visit from the easter bunny. my first batch of devilled eggs a super yummy success.
a little castle community of egg people. best egg kit ever! thanks be to target. as always, i bow down. best store ever!

then, on saturday, a little roadtrip to a small town about a half hour outside of Eugene and an egg hunt in the park. we wore our easter finest.
can you believe that picture is even real?!!

Otto really wanted to get in on the grass-picture action, but he has such a hard time relaxing (he's so much like his mama it almost makes me sad) he seriously hated lying in the grass. so here is the siblings shot, i can't stop laughing...
such a beautiful day to be outside!
[MINI UPDATE - i'm linking up with Mandy at The Haps for her Stepping Out Easter Sunday post]

nursing in the open air. Loretta slept and/or nursed through the entire outing. happy first easter little lady...
this morning was pretty low-key as far as easter mornings go. Otto was a master egg finder. his "basket" was a bunch of new art supplies (including a new tub for his amaaazing thrifted stamp collection) and some candy to add to the massive bowl of candies he's gotten from his grandparents and our friends. after the excitement died down i made devilled eggs. then we all went to the park this afternoon. grade A day
note the open cookbook on the counter. never made devilled eggs before! they are so easy. hurray!

happy spring, happy candy, happy kiddos, happy devilled eggs!

is it f#ck?

so you know how you're supposed to watch what you say around your kids so they don't end up foul-mouthed little hoodlums dropping f-bombs at preschool while flashing their underpants? oops.

confession: i *may* have a bit of a sailor's mouth when it comes to things that really get my goat, like, for instance, pretty much anything that has to do with our f*cking dog ::wink, wink:: and i *may* not have been censoring myself around the house. and Otto may have asked me the other day, when i was asking him to clean up his refrigerator magnets off the floor, "is it fuck? it's fuck, isn't it, mommy?"

what, child??!!! oh nooooo! and inwardly, hahahahahaha. but outwardly, keeping my cool, "oh no, Otto, that isn't a word that we should use." and then silently praying that he never, never busts that one out again, and vowing to the stars and moon that i will never use that word again in his earshot.

ps. i was being really nice about the magnets thing. i swear. i'm a super even-keeled mama. i think he was just trying to figure out what would be an appropriate time to use this "word". i was floored. and lesson insta-learned, believe me. but also: bwahahahaha! Otto is so awesome. but also: eeeek. i always say that leading by example is one of the most important things a parent can do. so i really feel like a loser for being the person he got this word from. he will NOT be hearing this from me again.

you might :) but he won't. so speaking of the eff bomb, oregon didn't get the effing memo that it's spring. we had snow last week! snowpocalypse 2012! it was actually really pretty and fun, but what a pain. the whole town closed down for 2 days, trees breaking left and right, it was nuts.

Ot and his dad (and our effing dog) made a snowman in our backyard...

ok, so someone else please tell me this f*ck thing isn't a mommy fail. or at least that you had something similar/funny with your kids? and i can undo the damage by saying things like "criminy!" from now on, right?
