Wordless-ish... Otto Starts Preschool and My Heart Bursts (With Love)

Oof, I kept it together until the second I was out of his sight, then lost it. Not just crying but like hyperventilated a little on the car ride home and almost threw up in our driveway. My heart breaks and I panic all over again thinking about taking him back tomorrow. And yet, I know this is going to be such a positive new adventure for him. And he handled it really well. In fact...

I did all kinds of creative photo editing to highlight my gorgeous child and hide the fact that he's sitting on the world's messiest floor completely surrounded by my shoes. But then I realized that's exactly what the picture looks like, haha! Anyways, the point is, look at that face. That's the face of a sweetheart and a survivor and he's going to do great at preschool! Like beyond great! I think it's going to be amazing for him. It is a wonderful school and now my little boy goes to school. Whoa. I kind of want to cry again thinking about it but I'm also so full of pride - he's turning into such an awesome little dude.

Awwww. What a great story. He definitely looks like he is ready for preschool. I love that little boy so much. Hang in there mom. Preschool is just one of the stepping stones to the final severing of the embilical cord. Just when you think your heart can't take anymore, he will give you a grandbaby to fill your cup until it runneth over!

So glad things went well! You're on a real journey now. By the way, we too are very very serious about booboos and bandaids. Have you heard of magic bandaids? They are hard to see (invisible) and you find them into your pocket and with a bit of pantomime, they really do the trick. Milo usually has 3 or 4 magic bandaids on at all times. He even puts them on himself ;-).

I love the sweet label you made him for his blanket and thoughtful packed lunch!

My daughter started preschool a few weeks ago. She had a similar first day. Was so excited to be there, we could have left without even noticing. And I was bursting with happiness for her. It gave me such joy. I was not the least bit sad. I was proud. IF she were to cry and carry on and cling to me when I left her, then I think I would have a problem. But knowing she is having a great time and is in the best of care, I am good with the whole thing.

Hope it gets better for you! Hang in there Mama!

It is such an amazing experience...socially, learning to bond with other adults (teachers), and experiencing things in a whole new environment. So happy you're both happy!

Elizabeth I'll be checking out your post after work tonight. Nothing helps more than hearing that other mamas are going through similar experiences & surviving!

Tracy, I consider you the expert on all things teacher and parent (you are, you know) and I thank you for your words of encouragement! You are right, I know it :)

Jen, thank you, LOVE you, and I seriously need to (ahem) invest in these miniature invisible bandages! Like right away. Have I mentioned how much I thank you for your role in this process and for being such an amazing friend?

Rebecca, thank you! Coming from a master crafter (you) I take your compliment as the highest honor!

Nita, Otto carried his letter around all morning. Thank you! And thank you for always being there for me/us. Love you!

Congrats and mazel tov and good wishes and all that....

I remind myself that my kids get experiences they can't get from me--and also that I'm all kinds of crazy and they shouldn't be around me ALL day...;)
